Heavy Machine Operator/Laborer

Job Summary

First Cut Design & Fabrication is seeking a heavy machinery operator to join our team. We specialize in turnkey solutions for the natural gas transmission and distribution – from design, fabrication and installation. The candidate will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment on live gas lines, often working at multiple job sites requiring overnight travel. All work must be done in compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.

The ideal candidate has experience will all aspects of below ground piping and installation and is willing and able to jump in and help with hand digging, trenching, pipeline testing, coating, rigging, hauling equipment, running pipeline equipment such as pipe horns and locators, pipeline holiday detectors, combustible gas monitoring and any other job task and requirements as needed.

Duties

- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, and loaders on live gas pipeline sites.

- Follow all safety protocols and industry standards to prevent accidents.

- Perform all other site work as required – anything from hand digging, trenching, rigging, hauling equipment, running pipeline equipment and other tasks on site as required.

- Conduct pre-operational checks and inspections of machinery.

- Travel to various locations, including overnight stays, as required (NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, KY)

- Coordinate with project managers, safety personnel, and other team members.

- Perform work accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high safety standard.

- Monitor worksite conditions and report any safety hazards or concerns.

- Assist in troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment as needed.

Skills

Must Have:

- Proven experience operating heavy machinery on live gas lines or similar pipeline projects. Minimum of 5 years’ experience.

- Valid certification and licenses for heavy equipment operation.

- Extensive knowledge of safety procedures related to working with live gas infrastructure.

- Ability to travel overnight and work at different sites throughout NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, KY.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

- Valid driver’s license and dependability.

- Must be able to provide professional references with contact information. References will be checked.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
