We're building a new team and seeking two highly motivated individuals to operate heavy equipment in our rock crushing quarries within the Pahrump, Elko, and Winnemucca areas of Nevada.
This role is ideal for operators with experience in loading over-the-road trucks with aggregate material using 966 to 982 loaders. We are a well-organized company with existing standard operating procedures in place. We are seeking a team that has a strong customer service mindset and a willingness to relocate, housing or housing space is provided. Mechanical knowledge is a plus!
We are seeking two highly motivated and skilled Mobile Heavy Equipment Operators with proven experience operating heavy equipment, including but not limited to, CAT 966, 980 and 982 Loaders. These positions require the ability to relocate to Nevada. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned heavy equipment in a rock crushing environment, including load out, scale system operations, daily reporting, inventory, and plant maintenance. As Operators, you will be expected to build upon your existing skills, learn new equipment, and contribute to the overall productivity and safety of the plant.
- Proficiently operates at least one type of heavy equipment used in our landscape rock quarries, specifically loaders, water trucks, and/or skid steers, following established procedures and strict safety protocols.
- Will be assigned to operate different types of equipment as skills and experience progress, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Demonstrates safe and efficient operation of equipment, contributing directly to achieving production targets and maintaining quality standards.
- Actively observes and learns from experienced operators to continuously improve operating techniques and master the operation of additional heavy equipment within the fleet.
- Maintains clear and concise communication with the supervisor regarding task progress, any equipment-related issues encountered, and updates on production.
- Responsible for opening and closing the quarry to customers each day.
- Technology skills needed to run electronic scale system, use email and texting, and daily inspections / report in safety system on an iPad.
- Proactively asks questions and actively seeks opportunities to learn from experienced operators and supervisors about more complex equipment operation techniques, maintenance procedures, and overall plant operations.
- Works independently on routine equipment operation tasks, adhering to established procedures, production schedules, and supervisor instructions.
- Identifies minor areas for improvement in personal work efficiency and proactively communicates these observations to the supervisor for potential adjustments to workflows.
- Collaborates effectively with other equipment operators and plant personnel to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of materials and optimal equipment utilization throughout the quarry. Focus on a 2-person team that will work very closely together.
- Continues to strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, MSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures while operating equipment and working in and around the quarry environment.
- Actively participates in additional safety training programs and meetings to stay informed on the latest quarry safety regulations, best practices, and emergency procedures.
- Serves as a positive safety role model for new trainees, demonstrating a commitment to safe work practices.
- May be required to perform general labor tasks around the quarry as directed by the supervisor.
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude, demonstrating a strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
Key Focus: Skill Development and Plant Familiarization
As an Operator, your primary focus will be on consistently developing your proficiency in operating a variety of heavy equipment, particularly loaders, skid steers and water trucks. Simultaneously, you will be expected to expand your understanding of overall quarry operations and basic plant maintenance practices. Your dedication to learning and safe operation will be crucial for your growth within the company and your potential to advance to more complex roles with greater responsibilities.
