Brush Creek Quarry is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our limestone production facility in Mode, IL. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for preventative and routine maintenance on both gas and diesel equipment including loaders, excavators, dozers, generators, pickup trucks, etc., as well as maintenance and repairs on our production plants. Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems and the ability to weld are preferred skills. As a quarry regulated by MSHA safety standards, you will support our operation by keeping heavy mobile equipment in good operating condition in order to meet production needs.
- Perform routine maintenance as well as mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs
- Troubleshoot issues with diesel and gas engines
- Order and install replacement parts for all heavy equipment
- Coordinate with plant manager to schedule regular maintenance or repairs in a timely manner
- Must have sound problem solving skills and the ability to diagnose breakdowns
- Conduct safety inspections of equipment and maintain maintenance records
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and punctuality all required traits
- Occasional heavy lifting is required as well as working in both hot and cold environments both in-door and out-door
- Certificate or degree in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred, but will consider experienced, non-certified mechanics
- Ability to work with others as well as independently
- Welding, fabricating, or electrical skills are a plus
- Experience in the mining industry preferred but not required
- Strict adherence to MSHA and site-specific safety rules
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED
- Background check, drug test (including cannabis), and fitness for duty test all required
