We are currently seeking a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Whitefish, Ontario.
The primary purpose of the Heavy Duty Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be to maintain, troubleshoot and perform maintenance on specialized equipment utilized for powerline construction. Working directly for the Fleet Manager, the Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic will work in both yard and field settings to ensure that equipment is prepared or repaired and ready for work.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues both in the field and in the shop.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Travel to job sites as needed to provide on-site mechanical support.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all repairs, inspections, and parts used.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment as required.
- Ensure all work complies with company safety and quality policies, and industry regulations/best practices.
- Collaborate with operations and fleet management team to schedule utilization, maintenance and prioritize repairs.
- Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies needed for repairs.
- Operate tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Adhere to CVOR - regulated driving hours for operating a service truck (vehicles over 4,500 kg)
· Trade Certificate in Heavy Duty Equipment. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
· Experience working with a variety of construction equipment including large trucks, off road equipment, trailers, etc.
· Welding considered an asset but not a requirement.
- Able and willing to travel to and work in remote project locations, embedded in operational work groups.
· Have and maintain a valid driver license and acceptable give (5) year drivers abstract
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask;
· Ability to maintain customer and employee confidentiality;
· Hourly rate to be discussed based on qualifications.
· Field rate and out of town expenses included(when required to travel to work).
