New Found Gold Corp. is a leading gold exploration company headquartered in Gander, Newfoundland & Labrador. We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join our team. In this key leadership role, you will oversee a dedicated team of safety and environmental professionals and work closely with our VP of Sustainability. Your contributions will be vital to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our occupational health, safety, and environmental programs.
· Develop and implement a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) strategy that aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
· Ensure the consistent application and maintenance of company HSE policies and procedures across the organization, meeting all legal and regulatory obligations.
· Establish and maintain proactive HSE programs, including risk assessments, behavior-based safety initiatives, and event reporting systems.
· Lead and support incident investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and oversee the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
· Analyze safety performance data to identify trends and recommend targeted improvement strategies.
· Foster a culture of safety ownership and environmental stewardship through leadership visibility, employee training, coaching, and continuous engagement.
· Work collaboratively across teams to integrate safety considerations into all facets of business operations.
· Manage the tracking and reporting of both leading and lagging HSE indicators, summarize performance metrics, and communicate results to relevant stakeholders.
· Prepare and present clear, regular HSE reports to senior leadership and, as required, to external regulatory bodies.
· Lead the development, implementation, and training for the site’s Emergency Response and Preparedness plans.
· Develop annual and long-range safety, health, and training goals, objectives, action plans, and support the creation and management of the related budget.
· Foster strong, respectful relationships with stakeholders, Indigenous partners, and local communities, consistently upholding New Found Gold’s commitment to social responsibility.
· Design and deliver engaging, informative safety training sessions for employees and contractors.
· Remain up to date on applicable legislation, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
· Mentor and develop a high-performing team of HSE professionals, building internal capability and future organizational leadership.
· Minimum 10 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within the mining or exploration industry.
· Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent designation is an asset.
· Knowledge of applicable HSE regulations and standards in Newfoundland and Labrador.
· Communication and interpersonal skills suitable for engaging with various levels of an organization.
· Experience developing, implementing, and improving HSE programs.
· Ability to provide leadership and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
· Initiative, problem-solving skills, and capacity to work under pressure.
· Eligibility to legally work in Canada at the time of application.
