YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the General Supervisor of Health and Safety for Underground Operations, you will be part of the Underground Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
•Responsible for understanding the health and safety goals and strategies for the company and working with the Health & Safety General Supervisor to develop targets to achieve fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements
•Support operations in the underground environment in terms of safety meetings, huddles, developing and managing procedures and standards and providing guidelines for safe work including developing and reviewing standards, procedures and JHAs ensuring all health and safety measures are being taken and accounted for
•Ensure site compliance to local (Provincial) and National legislation and producing inspection reports in required timelines
•Participate in incident investigations and any follow up action items
•Inspect, audit and evaluation of health and safety management systems, workplace conditions, equipment and practices
•Support and maintain section health and safety management systems for underground operations
•Provide support to the operations in terms of health and safety guidance
•Ensure training provided to employees meets the intended requirements
•Correct or commend health and safety performance
•Ensure new policies and procedures are distributed, discussed and adhered to
•Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
•Minimum Post-Secondary Education OR Trade certification
•Common core programs #770121 – common core for first line underground supervisor, #770010 – underground hard rock miner common core
•Train the Trainer certificate
•ICAM investigator training and experience an asset
•A solid knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants is essential
•Strong and effective English language communication skills - verbal and written
•French and English bilingualism a definite asset
•Experience and willingness to participate in Ontario Mine Rescue training an asset
•Additional leadership experience and training considered an asset
•A solid background in underground mining operations or a combination of suitable experience is required
•Must be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate others and initiate change that yields positive results in terms of health and safety
•Must be able to demonstrate the ability to act with integrity, honesty and respect in all situations
•Must have demonstrated leadership skills in influencing, conflict management, training of personnel etc.
•Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule:
•Schedule: 7 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 7 days off or 14/14
•Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada
