About This Job

Find your superpower with the Graduate Development Program

National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About The Position

Are you ready to step into a leadership role that keeps communities safe and warm? As an Associate Supervisor in Gas Field Operations, you’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring the safety, reliability, and integrity of our gas distribution system. You’ll supervise both internal teams and contracted personnel, making sure that work gets done on time and within budget. This role combines office administration with hands-on field support, giving you a chance to make a real impact!

This is an on-site role that can be based in Brooklyn or Queens, NY.

What You’ll Do

Role

In this role, you’ll be part of a team of supervisors and inspectors managing a $400 million portfolio focused on replacing and updating our gas infrastructure. Here’s what you’ll be up to:

- Team Leadership: Supervise a culturally diverse workforce, providing coaching, counseling, and team-building to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, including managing contracted teams.

- Safety Compliance: Ensure your team follows safety standards and policies to create a safe working environment and minimize risks.

- Strategic Execution: Translate strategies into actionable plans that deliver sustainable policies and practices, and communicate these plans across all levels of the organization.

- Relationship Building: Build strong working relationships with internal and external customers, managing day-to-day interactions to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions within National Grid policies.

- Emergency Response: Provide supervision and support for personnel engaged in a 24/7 operation, ensuring quick and effective emergency responses.

- Digital Transformation: Help modernize our operations by leveraging your data and engineering background to support our goal of going digital.

What You’ll Need

- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field from an accredited institution

- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026

- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026

- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy

- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
