National Grid is hiring an Associate Engineer for our interactive and team-oriented Gas Engineering Design team. This hybrid role will be located in Waltham, MA.

Our Team

We develop and manage the design and engineering for pipeline projects within the New England North distribution territory. We are a high-performing team made up of civil and mechanical engineers of all skill and experience levels and are positioned under the supervision and mentorship of Professional Engineers.

What You'll Do

- Develop and coordinate designs for natural gas engineering projects to improve and grow our distribution system

- Assess project scopes to identify local requirements and risks prior to design to ensure a complete, high quality and safe project outcome

- Manage multiple projects and prioritize work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

- Design and construction drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with company and industry standards

- Manage external engineering design firms and ensure their designs are completed in accordance with company and industry standards

- Review construction standard operating procedures to ensure they are completed in accordance with company and industry standards

About You

- ABET-accredited B.S. Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required

- 1+ years in a civil or mechanical engineering role including coops and internships required

- Proficiency with MS Excel required

- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design products required

- Experience using ArcGIS software preferred

- EIT or ability to obtain within one year required

- Valid driver’s license required

Salary

$83,000 - $98,000 a year

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
