About the Role:
We are seeking a full-time geophysicist to support Vema’s drilling and pilot well testing.
Your Responsibilities:
•Work with Vema geologists and well engineers to define fit-for-purpose geophysical scope that balances budget constraints, regulatory requirements and scientific goals.
•Manage geophysical contractors, QA/QC deliverables and survey designs
•Supervise geophysical survey acquisition, processing and interpretation
•Identify novel geophysical methods and applications for exploration and well monitoring
•Interpretation of timelapse geophysical data
•Shephard Vema’s geophysical surveys through the permitting process
As an early hire in a rapidly scaling startup, your role will evolve, offering opportunities for increased responsibility. You will play a pivotal role in driving company growth, and climate impact of Vema.
Required skills and expertise:
•Experience planning and executing geophysical surveys (e.g. seismic, gravity or magnetics)
•10+ years of experience in relevant roles in oil and gas, mining or similar fields.
•Familiarity with the exploration and development processes
•Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (MS, PhD) is preferred.
•Demonstrated project management skills - managing timelines, budgets, contractors, etc.
•Experience permitting geophysical surveys
•Familiarity with wireline logging
•Experience or familiarity with passive geophysical survey methods
•Interest or familiarity with novel geophysical techniques is a plus
And of course, communication skills, particularly when engaging with stakeholder groups such as investors, contractors, partners, legal.
