At Progressive Rubber Industries (PRI), the General Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily production activities across multiple departments (steel shop, rubber lining, sandblast & paint, and logistics). This role ensures that work is executed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering accountability, teamwork, and pride in workmanship.
- Provide direction and support to team leads and production crews across all active work centers.
- Ensure consistent application of PRI’s core values: Safety → Quality → Productivity.
- Promote accountability at all levels — ensuring instructions are understood, followed, and completed without ambiguity.
- Act as the escalation point for production issues, while maintaining alignment with managers and coordinators.
- Enforce PRI’s safety standards and regulatory compliance across all departments.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, toolbox talks, and job hazard assessments.
- Ensure correct use of PPE, safe operation of equipment, and proper handling of materials.
- Stop unsafe practices immediately and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Quality Manager to ensure work in progress and completed tasks conform specifications, drawings, and PRI quality standards.
- Proactively address deficiencies and direct corrective actions to minimize rework.
- Ensure proper procedures are being followed for the task at hand.
- Reinforce standardization of workflows to drive consistency and reliability.
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager, Steel Shop Manager, Production Coordinator, and Logistics to align manpower and schedules.
- Ensure crews have the necessary materials, consumables, and equipment staged ahead of work.
- Assist in sequencing work orders to maintain flow between steel, rubber, and paint shops, avoiding bottlenecks.
- Support coordination with shipping for staging, packaging, and delivery readiness.
- Monitor labor allocation and efficiency across departments; reassign resources where needed to hit deadlines.
- Identify and reduce non-value-added tasks, downtime, or material handling delays.
- Encourage efficient practices without compromising quality or safety.
- Provide feedback to management on production targets, resource requirements, and overtime needs.
- Maintain daily logs of manpower, production progress, and incidents.
- Report schedule risks, quality concerns, or equipment issues to management with proposed solutions.
- Act as a direct communication link between crews and management, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Mentor and develop supervisors and team leads to build PRI’s supervisory strength.
