Foundry Furnace Operator/Production Lead

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced foundry furnace operator/lead whom is also skilled in all aspects of a sand-cast (Non-Ferrous) foundry. Our foundry has two gas-fired NIFCO furnaces, two molding lines, sand production, core production (shell and Co2) and full finishing operation. So, while the title focuses on the furnace operation we need someone who can lead the floor but also contribute to production output in all aspects of the business. This positions reports directly to ownership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work safely in a manufacturing environment while wearing Personal Protective Equipment.

- Follow a production schedule.

- Follow detailed verbal/written instructions, processes, and procedures.

- Prepare and assemble materials and parts.

- Prepping and melting of brass, bronze and aluminum.

- Create sand-casting molds by means of hand tools and vibratory/pressing equipment

- Move sand, castings, flasks, or other materials about foundry by hand, using wheelbarrow or cart, or by loading them onto conveyor.

- Install and remove steel jackets and bands

- Break sand mold from finished casting, using bar or hammer.

- Break up used sand molds with bar and shovel sand for reuse in new molds.

- Operate hand power tools, material handling equipment, and any other required machinery efficiently and safely.

- Perform quality control checks and verify work order specifications.

- Properly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products correctly.

- Communicate and work effectively with others.

- Report concerns with quality, processes, equipment, and material to Supervisor.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

Requirements:

- Able to lift 50lbs.

- Able to pass respirator fit test.

- Able to pull, push, lift, pivot from side to side and stand for long periods of time.

- Able to follow written/verbal instruction.

- Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical functions, and use a tape measurer.
