The Assistant Storekeeper is responsible for supporting storeroom and material yard operations by handling materials, maintaining cleanliness, and performing inventory tasks across multiple Georgia Power Company (GPC) operational headquarters. This is an entry-level role ideal for candidates with 0–5 years of relevant experience in warehouse, inventory, or logistics environments.
- Perform warehouse and material yard clean-up, including trash removal and equipment organization.
- Operate forklifts to load and unload materials safely (GPC forklift certification required).
- Use cutting tools and blowers as needed during material handling and yard maintenance.
- Lift up to 75 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods in outdoor and warehouse environments.
- Prepare and transport materials to the GPC Material Distribution Center in Forest Park, GA.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist in weekly/monthly inventory audits.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Metering, Power Delivery, and Supply Chain.
- Learn and utilize GPC software systems for tracking, shipping, and ordering materials.
- Travel between assigned operational headquarters and other storerooms across the Northeast Region as needed.
- Support storm restoration activities by assisting with materials distribution and warehouse logistics at various sites.
- 0–5 years of warehouse, logistics, or inventory management experience.
- Must complete GPC forklift training (1.5 hours) and pass certification test (70% minimum).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute between multiple locations.
- Ability to lift heavy items (up to 75 lbs), perform physical labor, and operate warehouse tools safely.
- Willingness to respond to emergency/storm support needs as required.
