FlexSteel - CNC Machinist I

This is a FlexSteel position and is located in Baytown, TX.

Day Shift position

- The CNC Machinist will be responsible for operating and running stations with up to two lathes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Reads and interprets blueprints and drawings to setup, edit, and machine parts (fasteners, midlines) to tight specifications and tolerances

- Operates and runs stations with up to two Numeric Controlled lathes

- Machines small to mid-size parts (2–8-inch midlines/fasteners for FlexSteel products)

- Utilizes common machining tools: Micrometers, Calipers, Gauges, etc. to perform QC on finished parts.

- Fast-paced, precise work.

- Maintains a safe and clean working environment. Shop is kept very organized and clean.

- Works in a safe manner.

- Responsible for quality of parts produced.

- Responsible for documentation generated or related to production of the job.

- Works within tolerances of +/-.005”.

- Works from blueprints, sketches, and process control documents.

- Assumes other duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

- Highschool Diploma or Equivalent GED.

- A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience doing setups, edits, and machining on CNC Lathes

- Experience with carbon, stainless steel materials

- Experience running station with multiple machines in a fast-paced work environment

- Candidates must be able to read prints to do own setup & editing as needed during runs

- Experience with Okuma Lathes with Live Tooling a major plus

- Experience with G-Codes & Okuma Controls (OSP – 200LA and 300) a major plus

- This position may require:

- Field, Branch, Shop, & Plant Positions: This position operates in an industrial/field environment. The role requires working in and around manufacturing equipment, heavy machinery, and potentially hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

- - Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly

- Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)

- Climb stairs and ladders

- Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach

- Work in confined spaces when required

- Operate heavy equipment and power tools

- Perform repetitive movements

- Exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection

- Work in high places and confined spaces

- Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals

- Work around moving mechanical parts

- Work in hot and cold temperatures
