A CNC Machinist uses their knowledge of blueprint interpretation, measuring equipment, and of tool wear and machine offset management to efficiently manufacture a quality product, meeting or exceeding the customer’s expectations with minimal non-conformance. The individual is required to be focused, neat, and organized.
The position requires strong problem solving and mathematics skills, and the ability to determine that the generated code and setup instructions will make the part, without damaging the tooling or machine. The individual shall develop a partnership with other departments, such as Quality, Engineering and Maintenance to ensure that the outcome of this process is of the quality expected.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills
- Accurately manufacture parts to specifications, including deburring completely
- Complete first piece inspections
- Responsible for daily maintenance and clean-up of machines and work areas
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as: hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, banding machine
- Ability to use measuring tools such as: tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer, height gauges, radius gauges or any other measuring equipment
- Responsible for providing error-free work to all customers
- Ability to operate forklift
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; must be familiar with G code programming
- Reasoning: ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; deal with problems involving several known variables in standardized situations.
- Mathematical: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute ratio, rate, and percent; ability to read and interpret metal rule.
- Language: good command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Medium physical work equal to exerting 20 to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Regularly required to stand, bend and reach.
- Work performed in a shop environment
- Exposed to any number of elements, but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable
- May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another during the assembly process.
