UMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: This class is responsible for researching, development and execution of processes and projects/programs associated with Fleet Operations and for providing quality service to the operating departments by gathering and analyzing data and/or maintenance of business processes, procedures and policies, as well as providing support to Fleet Supervisors and the Fleet Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, administration of the FASTER reporting system, Fuelmaster & GPS systems, compiling various management reports and KPI’s, conducting forklift training for fleet staff, and training on the FASTER reporting system to fleet staff and customers as needed, assisting management in identifying opportunities to operate more efficiently and effectively including monitoring the efficiency, effectiveness and performance of projects/programs; developing statistical analysis for reporting requirements; driving/operating vehicles in performance of work assignments/responsibilities. Responsibilities also include assisting with budget preparation, expense tracking, as well as policies and procedures. Operating under general supervision of the Fleet Manager work is performed in accordance with policies and procedures. Performs related work as required. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Computer, calculator, service vehicle, communication, and other equipment, as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of safety rules/regulations/ procedures; good knowledge of all operating divisions methods/processes as they pertain to Fleet; good knowledge of the methods/procedures/ hardware/software used in material procurement/inventory management; knowledge of database and spreadsheet software, including Excel and ; skill in operating computers and applicable software; skill in keyboarding at a moderate rate of speed; skill in performing accurate mathematical computations at a moderate rate of speed; skill in analyzing data and developing/ supporting statistical reports; ability to compile/analyze data and draw sound conclusions; ability to prepare/update/retrieve/maintain reports/records; ability to orally defend statistical reports; ability to plan/ coordinate/respond to multiple tasks within acceptable timeframes; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with consultants, lessors, the general public, and all levels of employees.
(A) Graduation from an accredited four (4) year university/college, or two (2) year community/technical college with a degree/certification in business, business management, statistics, mathematics or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in business or financial operations which includes statistical analysis, program/project implementations, and working with databases/spreadsheets to develop reports and recommendations for improvements. ; OR
(B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as defined in (A) above; OR
(C) An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as defined in (A), and (B) above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess/maintain a valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: As required in the Public Works Commission’s Safety Manual.
