The opportunity

TC Energy’s Legal Operations team is seeking a detail-oriented

Financial Analyst

with strong analytical and communication skills to provide critical financial analysis and insights that support legal decision-making across the organization.

What You'll Do

- Lead (or assist in leading) the legal department budget and planning process, including communication with vendors and stakeholders

- Identify spending trends, variances, cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies

- Act as primary liaison to the CFO area, when required, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide financial processes

- Coordinate financial reporting for the legal department

- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models for Legal Operations

- Create financial dashboards for leadership

- Maintain financial resource hub for the legal department

- Develop and deliver financial training for team members under the General Counsel, as required

Minimum Qualifications

- University Degree in Finance, Commerce, or Economics

- 6+ years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with financial and business analysis specific to capital & operating budgets, including cash flow, allocations, forecasting practices, and related cost management processes.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to consolidate, report and analyze information accurately.

- Functional expertise using data, analytics and insights that provide business cost management and decision support, including in-depth data/quantitative analysis and experience with large data sets and reporting tools.

- Relevant experience driving process improvements, governance and business results.

- Strong organization skills, ability to work flexibly (in groups or independently) and to deadlines; self-motivated and proactive.

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is a critical requirement, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with accounting systems and processes, and financial planning cycles.

- Experience working with SAP, BW, BPC.

- Direct experience with scorecard and KPI development, reporting and monitoring.

- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

- Strong personal initiative, ability to deliver high quality results, and desire for continuous improvement.

- Ability to foster creativity and innovation, challenging the status quo especially as it pertains to shifting behaviors and perceptions in large scale change.

- Previous experience using AI to automate KPI reporting
