The Analyst or Associate, Project Finance position is a full-time role located in the New York City Metropolitan Area, with eligibility for hybrid work arrangements. The role is suited for candidates with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience and is classified as exempt under FLSA. The successful candidate will join the renewable energies sector, specifically focusing on solar and storage projects.
- Support the structuring, modeling, and execution of financing for CVE’s renewable energy projects and portfolios. This includes greenfield developments, acquisitions, and dispositions within North America.
- Assist with financial modeling related to CVE North America’s existing portfolio.
- Partner closely with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project financing process. Financing types include construction, tax equity, debt, sale-leaseback, mezzanine, and preferred equity.
- Participate in all stages of project financing, from inception to completion.
- Perform financial modeling for various project financings.
- Aggregate and analyze project-level financial due diligence information from different functional groups, including EPC, permitting, environmental, and insurance. Evaluate project profitability through financial modeling, risk assessment, cash flows, and sizing of financing needs for both greenfield and acquired assets.
- Coordinate with legal, tax, technical, and insurance experts, and interact with external transaction advisors.
- Run scenarios to forecast liquidity, cash flow, debt service levels, returns on investment, and manage debt covenants and credit risk.
- Develop and maintain relationships to support project finance transactions, and assist in negotiations with banks, equity investors, advisors, and other financiers.
- Prepare presentation materials for financier meetings, such as teasers and information memoranda, participate in meetings, and maintain a database of financing terms in coordination with headquarters.
- Work with the Director of Finance to prepare internal investment memos for Executive Committee review and approval.
- Assist with the due diligence process, set up data rooms, and collaborate with internal teams including M&A, finance, legal, development, and operations.
- Serve as a point of contact with CVE’s headquarters in France, liaising with counterparts in finance, accounting, and legal.
- Report directly to the Director of Finance and work closely with the Associate, Project Finance to ensure compliance with group quality and business processes.
- Minimum one year of experience in Project Finance at a renewable energy developer, financier, bank, investment/private equity or credit fund, or in a Big 4 advisory or accounting firm.
- Strong financial modeling skills, especially in Excel, as well as proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in valuation, capital structuring, capital formation, and financing vehicles.
- Experience with lease structures, tax equity partnership flips, and familiarity with the US project finance landscape.
- Ability to proactively manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
