Field Service Engineer

Position Overview

Position requires the application of diverse knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles and service practices. Basic knowledge of internal combustion engines and turbines related to exhaust emissions and performance is required. Performance of duties requires the capability to install, commission, service, and troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical standard AeriNOX SCR systems, along with the ability to work in multi-disciplinary activities. Strong verbal and communication skills will be required to effectively represent AeriNOx in field activities. The role involves field and in-house related work for supporting the installed base of AeriNOx SCR systems as well as commissioning of newly deployed systems. Additionally, the role will support the new projects team with engineering support tasks.

Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide SCR system service and operation expertise to customers.

- Ability to perform detailed operational analysis of exhaust emission and heat recovery systems.

- Routinely perform detailed field performance analysis of mechanical systems. Work will include optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

- Provide remote troubleshooting support to customers.

- Assist with management of service parts inventory and filling customer orders (check-in/out, stock/re-order levels).

- Provide support to project engineering team such as design review, recommending design feedback based on field experience, development of project work and documentation.

- Proactive communication with customers for annual SCR system service work needs.

- Communicate with internal personnel to obtain and disseminate critical information.

- Working knowledge of measurement and monitoring instrumentation.

- Ability to compile and analyze field operational and performance data.

- Ability to work individually and in a team environment.

- Coordinate goals, work plans, and assigned responsibilities.

Competencies

- Knowledge of computer/networking systems and configuration

- Use of and modifications to Human Machine Interface (HMI) software

- Use of and modifications to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) software

- Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical system operation and troubleshooting

- Technical assessment and mechanical aptitude

- Use of MS office suite

- Use of hand and power tools

- Experience with travel for work including planning and purchasing travel itineraries and submission of expense reports.

Physical Requirements

- Required to lift up to 40 lbs.

- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, utilize various equipment and tools, and move about the job site.

Travel Requirements

- Extensive short-term travel will be required for this position (~60-75%). Travel is generally not local but requires flying to travel to customer sites for service work.

Position Qualifications

- Bachelor or Associate of Science Degree in Engineering Technologies

- 3-5 + years of related electrical and mechanical experience

- Strong communication skills including the ability to translate technical information into basic understanding, and the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with a diversity of people at an individual and team level.

- A valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance are required, and ability to contract use of rental vehicle..

- Must be insurable per Company Insurance Guidelines.

- Requires regular and random testing in accordance with DOT Drug & Alcohol Screening.
