Job Description:
Responsible for providing Professional Technical Services for Genserve Inc. customers including technical site analysis to resolve customer issues and to perform remedial maintenance & repair duties on various make and models of UPS Systems from 1 -1000 kVA. Systems will include a complete range of single-phase, 3-phase UPS Systems, Switch Gear, Battery Plants, DC Plants, STS, PDU’s & Emergency Lighting Inverters and associated peripherals. Fundamental knowledge of electrical distribution systems, basic test and measurement equipment, fundamental knowledge of electrical code and IEEE requirements, and in-depth knowledge of electronic principles is required. A high level of customer service skills is required as well as the ability to travel regionally. On an “as needed” basis.
Essential Responsibilities:
1) Perform Startup/Commissioning on UPS/Critical Power equipment across various product lines both single module and multi- module systems.
2) Perform Preventive Maintenance on various makes and models of single module and multi-module systems.
3) Perform Unscheduled Maintenance and repairs on various makes and models of UPS/Critical Power Systems on single module and multi-module systems up to 1000 kVA.
4) Perform basic Power Audits of customer’s distribution systems.
5) Document all required information for each site visit performed on the UPS/Critical Power Systems listed in the Job Description as well as DC/Battery Plants.
6) Work with other team members to complete custom and large installation projects.
7) Be prepared to always respond promptly and professionally to emergency calls including holidays and weekends.
8) Work with the OEMs for UPS/Critical Power Systems Software upgrades and other OEM required repairs.
9) Stay current in all aspects of revisions, updates, and new additions to UPS/Critical Power Systems of different make and models.
10) Perform site visits, technical evaluations, complete Critical Action Reports, Status Reports and Field Service Reports.
11) Assist in Warranty Contract Sales as required.
12) Maintain integrity of site information and report description to the UPS Supervisor & UPS Service Manager.
13) Train other Field Service Engineers on product knowledge when required
14) Properly document, label, and return all defective parts utilized in the repair of UPS System equipment to the designated disposal/repair location.
15) Educate Genserve Inc. Power Inc. customers on basic operation of their equipment. Inform customers of issues which they may have experienced with their equipment in a way which is beneficial to the customer as well as Genserve Inc. Power Inc.
16) Perform other duties as assigned and attend customer meetings at the UPS Service Directors request.
- High level of technical knowledge of electronic/electrical component theory.
- Must be able to perform duties with general direction, receiving only general guidance with respect to overall objectives. Work is usually quite independent of other team members
- Must operate within division policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives
- Must comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Electrical Single Lines, general business procedures, professional documents, technical procedures, engineering blueprints, and governmental regulations. Ability to write Service Reports, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
· Must have 8-10 years extensive Uninterruptible Power Supply maintenance, installation & repair experience on major brands such as Eaton, APC, MGE, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Liebert/Vertiv, Online Power, Myers, Chloride & Reillo UPS.
· Must have Factory OEM Training certifications in all or some of the above.
· Must have working knowledge of UPS Communication Protocol, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Chloride, Liebert/Vertiv, MGE & Powerware/Eaton.
· Working knowledge of combined Generator, ATS & Fire Alarm Systems a plus.
· Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Must be agile and mobile with respect to finger, hand, arm and leg movement.
· Must be able to communicate (speak and hear) effectively to various intellectual levels.
· Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 75 pounds.
· Must be able to see and focus clearly up close as well as short distances.
- Associate degree or above in electronics/electrical with at least 8 years of related experience OR have 10-15 plus years equivalent experience in a related field, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
- Prior experience as an electrician helpful
- Prior 3-Phase, Single Phase, Single & Multi-Module UPS experienced required
