About the Role:
The Field Installation Technician performs simple and more complex installations and commissions; maintains, calibrates and resolves complex technical problems. Provides support to members of the Assembly and Installation team; may help them complete their assigned work when issues arise. Delivers professional and customer-oriented services according to defined processes and contributes to continuous improvement of products and services by providing feedback. Consults with customer regarding pre- and post-installation support.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
•+ Mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of automotive systems and ability to crimp and solder wires. Proficient with hand and power tools and able to operate vehicle lifts.
+ Proficient electrical troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand electronic schematics and electronic part documentation.
+ The ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical instructions, Bills of Material and Quality standards.
+ Knowledge of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and make impromptu decisions in time-sensitive situations.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
+ Thorough knowledge of proprietary products and their applications.
+ Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail.
+ Aility to operate remotely from the main office with no supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
•+ High School diploma or equivalent.
+ Technical educational background in electrics or electronics, equivalent or related discipline; or equivalent related work experience or a combination of at least 8 years.
+ Advanced mechanical and electrical skills
+ The ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical instructions, Bills of Material and Quality standards.
+ A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the assembly and sub-assembly field service
+ Advanced knowledge of test equipment, engine dyno cells and other test solutions
Responsibilities:
•+ Frequent travel to customer locations to install and configure durable goods according to specifications.
+ Conduct thorough testing of installed equipment to ensure proper functionality and performance.
+ Provide on-site training and support to customers, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
+ Maintain detailed records of installations, including any issues encountered and resolutions provided.
+ Collaborate with the engineering and customer service teams to relay feedback and improve installation processes.
