Job Description:
A Fiberglass Fabricator job involves creating fiberglass components by laminating, shaping, and assembling fiberglass materials. This includes tasks like applying resin and fiberglass layers to molds, bonding reinforcing materials, and ensuring the finished product meets specifications through quality checks. They also use tools and machinery to cut, shape, and finish fiberglass parts, often working in manufacturing or repair settings.
Responsibilities:
•Lamination: Applying layers of fiberglass and resin to molds to create the desired shape and thickness.
•Shaping and Cutting: Using hand and power tools to cut, shape, and trim fiberglass materials according to blueprints or specifications.
•Assembly: Bonding reinforcing materials like wood strips to fiberglass structures, particularly in boat building.
•Finishing: Smoothing surfaces, removing air pockets, and applying finishing coats to achieve a high-quality surface.
•Quality Control: Inspecting finished products for defects, measuring dimensions, and ensuring they meet standards.
•Mold Preparation: Cleaning, preparing, and applying release agents to molds before lamination.
•Material Mixing: Mixing resins, catalysts, and other chemicals to prepare the materials for application.
•Tool Maintenance: Ensuring tools and equipment are in good working order.
•Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations and using personal protective equipment.
