The Family and Community Engagement Liaison serves as a liaison between families and the school to build each entity’s capacity to make school environments welcoming, strengthen two-way communication, facilitate and encourage respectful interactions, and increase shared power and responsibility. This position supports and strengthens the partnership between the school, families, and community to positively impact student achievement and overall school performance.
The Family and Community Engagement Liaison will be responsible for connecting families to District and community supports, as well as developing: 1) relationships with families that foster trust between families and the school, 2) leadership, advocacy and involvement among the parent/caregiver community, and 3) opportunities for families to support their student’s education to enhance academic achievement and attendance, as defined by Federal guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following:
•Assists school administration in developing a sustained, systematic plan for family involvement and engagement aligned with the District’s strategic plan.
•Organizes and/or coordinates meetings, activities, programs, and learning opportunities for families to increase capacity for advocacy, civic engagement, and supporting their students’ learning.
•Coordinate family engagement opportunities that support school goals and address key focus areas.
•Collaborates with school staff and District leadership to achieve measurable outcomes and meet school and District goals.
•Coordinates with and assists the school’s parent leadership organization(s) to increase participation and ensure alignment with the school’s Parental Involvement Plan and schoolwide Title I Plan.
•Assists school administration in preparing and developing Parent School Compacts.
•Assists school administration with creating/ensuring a welcoming, safe, and supportive school environment and positive school culture.
•Provides information to school, students, families, and the community on programs, support services, and resources provided through the District and the community to improve student attendance, academic achievement, and school performance.
•Provides assistance to families navigating District programs, services, policies, and procedures.
•Assists school attendance teams in verifying attendance information.
•Develops and fosters strong community relationships that build capacity for families and support school communities.
•Coordinates and integrates family engagement strategies with school and district programs.
•Attends and participates in scheduled professional development.
•Completes and reviews required program reports and documents. Organizes and reports school data, as established by the District’s metrics and goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•High School Diploma or G.E.D. and/or 3-5 Years of parent involvement engagement experience.
•Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
•Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in coordinating and/or developing and delivering referral services for community-based education, social, or health programs.
Experience preparing detailed written and oral reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•60 college hours with a minimum 2.5 grade point average
•Prior experience working in an educational, social service, or family support service environment
•Missouri state substitute teaching certificate
Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred
