The Portland Water District (PWD) is seeking a Facility Technician I to join our Facilities Team! The current hourly rate for this position is $25.98 for 6-month probationary period, regular rate increases to $27.34 after probationary period.
Our Facilities Technician I will perform a broad range of tasks to ensure proper operation and maintenance of the PWD facilities. The successful candidate will have proven experience in carpentry, pipefitting and plumbing, masonry, painting, electrical, and boiler/HVAC. Perform Land Reserve maintenance, grounds maintenance, and other related tasks.

The successful candidate will have the ability and desire to function in a team environment, with associated positive communication and problem-solving skills and the commitment to share skills and ideas with colleagues. They will have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in performing work in an industrial or commercial environment. Will need basic computer skills with knowledge of Windows, Word for Windows and E-mail. Must be able to meet approved physical and medical standards, including confined space entry.
A State of Maine CDL Class A or B license is required to be achieved within two years of hire – we will train you! Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, and possess a valid State of Maine driver’s license with a clean driving record.
