We are a metals fabrication company, looking to add an Estimator or two to our team. Experience in these areas would be a plus: hands on metal fabrication, construction, reading construction plans and specifications, AutoCAD, Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or doing estimates in a related industry.
- Must have prior experience with 3D software or doing estimates from blueprints.
- A high ability to read and understand drawings/blueprints and find the metals parts
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Strong math skills (basic understanding of algebra and trigonometry or an ability to grasp these concepts)
- 3D spatial awareness
- Will communicate with the General Contractors prior to bid day, facilitating the sale
- Eagerness for a career in the metals fabrication business
- Able to envision 3 dimensions from a 2 dimensional drawing
- Able to understand instructions and follow procedures
- Able to meet deadlines with accurate work
- Trainable to correct any work errors
- Ability to communicate well with othersTraining for this role is extensive and to ensure success, we require the applicant take the following tests: tape measure, aptitude, IQ, personnel potential and pass a drug test.
Initial employment will be paid training ($15-$20 per hour) with the manager and with no bonuses. An experienced Estimator in the same or related industry to metals fabrication, will most likely will be through training much faster than someone not experienced. Approximate training period to be 2-6 weeks, dependent on speed of learning.
Environment: Able to walk up stairs to the 2nd floor Estimator's office (building does not have an elevator).
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 plus bonuses based on percentage of Estimates done, plus additional bonuses for Estimates sold. Experienced Estimators earn above $70,000+ per year.
