Position Overview:
Metalogic is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Estimator to join our team in the oil and gas industry. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in cost estimation, project planning, and bidding processes. You’ll play a key role in helping us secure new projects by preparing accurate and competitive estimates aligned with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
•Review project plans and specifications.
•Understand the scope of work and identify materials, labor, equipment and time requirements.
•Prepare detailed cost estimates using historical data, supplier quotes, and industry benchmarks.
•Develop competitive bids that align with project goals and profitability targets.
•Request and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
•Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure accurate and timely pricing.
•Identify potential risks or uncertainties in project scope or pricing.
•Include contingencies or alternative solutions in the estimate.
•Maintain records of estimates, assumptions, and pricing sources.
•Collaborate with contracts, finance, and operations teams to refine estimates and support project planning.
Position Requirements:
•Post secondary education in business administration, commerce, supply chain, or a related field.
•Internship or co-op experience in administrative, finance, or project coordination roles is an asset.
•Up to two years’ experience in contract administration or estimation, with a focus on technical industries such as Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), engineering, or construction is preferred but not required.
•Exposure to bidding or proposal coordination processes is an asset.
•Understanding of financial principles and project cost structures.
•Exposure to the oil and gas or industrial services sector is a plus but not required.
•Basic understanding of CRM systems or a demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly.
•Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word); experience with SharePoint is a plus.
