The Route Helper position requires you to ride on the back of a trash truck Monday and Tuesdays to perform several important duties. Helper assists the driver to safely navigate the truck in alleyways, empty customer bins and keep the route on-schedule. Position is part-time with a guaranteed 15 - 20 hours per week (minimum), primarily Monday - Wednesday. Possibility for additional hours, as available.

Other duties include daily service on community recycle depot as well as operating a weekly bin delivery and removal route. Additional yard or facility work hours may be available, depending on employee performance and company need.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Operates hydraulic hand controls to lift/unload the bin on service routes.

- Returns bins to the proper location.

- Rides on the back and holds on to the side handrail for safety purposes.

- Steps up and down repeatedly to the riding position at the back of the truck in alleys, approximately 16 inches.

- Sits, stands, stoops, bends, climbs and walks intermittently.

- Learns and understands hand signals.

- Works efficiently and diligently to maintain route schedule.

- Assists in the general maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and equipment.

- Uses hand tools, such as a broom, shovel, rake or other small tools, as required.

- Service and attend to recycle depot on front of company property Monday - Saturday

- Operates weekly container delivery route using Delivery truck.

- Facility maintenance duties, as assigned.

- Works out-of-doors, possibly under adverse weather conditions.

REQUIREMENTS

- Must have authorization to legally work in the United States.

- Must have a valid Driver’s License.

- Must have a working phone to receive daily work updates.

- Ability to walk behind the truck and repeatedly lift, move, and carry heavy objects weighing 40 pounds or more.

- Ability to be alert to traffic and aware of both safe and unsafe procedures and situations that may occur.

- Have ability to learn about occupational hazards and safety precautions.

- Ability to wear company uniform for the job and maintain a neat, professional appearance.

- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other personnel and the public.

- Must be a team player, reliable and work well under minimal supervision.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
