Role Overview:
We are seeking an Environmental Technologist to play a key role in meeting our environmental policy of safeguarding the natural environment by conducting business in a responsible manner and meeting all requirements. This role supports both environmental compliance and pulp production. It involves hands-on sampling, precise testing, and analysis of results to optimize processes and maintain high standards of quality and environmental responsibility. The position is based primarily in a laboratory, with some fieldwork required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine testing and monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effluent sampling and ambient air monitoring stations.
- Conduct process testing and fibre counting.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Manage the submission of samples to contract laboratories and report findings.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain the ISO 17025 laboratory management system.
- Post-secondary degree or technologist diploma in environmental, chemistry, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Familiarity with ISO 14001, 17025, and 9001 standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate scientific results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility for overtime work.
- A practical understanding of the Kraft pulping process.
- Valid driver’s license.
