The Environmental Advisor will also oversee due diligence activities for new renewable projects and ensure ongoing compliance during construction and operations.

- Conduct environmental risk assessments, due diligence and fatal flaw analysis for new development sites and acquisition opportunities

- Scope, contract, and manage consultants and contractors providing environmental and regulatory services

- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental requirements during construction and operations, including SWPPP, MBTA/BGEPA, unanticipated discovery plans, and vegetation management

- Establish and maintain environmental procedures and tools for construction and operations, including EMS programs, fatal flaw templates, environmental management plans, SWPPP compliance, MBTA/BGEPA assurance, permit matrices, and vegetation management strategies

- Represent ENGIE in industry associations and working groups (e.g., EWAC, CanREA, ACP, SEIA, EPRI) to stay informed and influence policy

- Support environmental audit program for renewable facilities, maintain regulatory documentation and approval files, advise management on regulatory developments, and provide training and reporting to internal teams and ENGIE Group (Paris HQ)

What You’ll Bring

- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in environmental compliance and business development within the energy sector

- Deep expertise in environmental programs and compliance areas including air emissions, pollution discharge systems, stormwater and spill prevention, solid and hazardous waste management, wetlands and wildlife preservation, bird and bat monitoring, and emergency response and remediation under Federal Acts (e.g., MBTA, BGEPA)

- Proven ability to navigate U.S. and Canadian federal, state/provincial, and local environmental legislation, bylaws, and policies related to aquatic, terrestrial, and socioeconomic environments, with demonstrated experience in EIA/EA processes, permitting, and authorizations for renewable energy development

- Demonstrated mastery of root cause analysis and corrective action planning for noncompliance events

- Proficiency in environmental data management, modeling, and analysis to support compliance tracking, permitting, and strategic decision-making

- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and media interaction
