As an Environmental and Regulatory Advisor (Air Emissions), you’ll be at the forefront of environmental compliance and innovation, supporting some of the most complex and high-profile oil sands operations in the country. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal and provincial air emissions regulations, maintaining accurate reporting, and supporting continuous improvement in environmental performance. Minimum requirements:

- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental or natural sciences

- 6-10 years of relevant work experience including some of the following:

- Emissions Inventory: Conducting air emissions calculations and reporting for the National Pollutant Release Inventory and Alberta Annual Emissions Reporting Program

- Stack Emissions Monitoring: Reviewing stack testing and Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) data for reporting in line with the CEMS Code, Alberta Air Monitoring Directive and Multi-Sector Air Pollutants Regulation

- Ambient Air Monitoring: Evaluation of ambient air monitoring data against relevant objectives and familiarity with air monitoring equipment

- Fugitive Emissions Monitoring: Evaluation of fugitive emissions data and familiarity with the Directive for Quantification of Area Fugitive Emissions at Oil Sands Mines

- Air Dispersion Modelling: Evaluation of air dispersion modelling reports and familiarity with the Alberta Air Quality Model Guideline

- Familiarity with Oil Sands facility operation and environmental management is an asset

- Exposure to common facility data systems, such as PiVision, PiDataLink, and CEMS reporting software is also an asset

Key Responsibilities:

- Timely completion of air emissions reports for regulatory and stewardship reporting

- Support the coordination of the annual fugitives emissions monitoring program for mines

- Provide technical advice and support facility emissions reduction projects

- Support facility approval renewals or amendments with technical advice

- Interact with regulators on regulatory issues or changes to regulation

Location and other key details:

- This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

- This role requires limited travel to various Suncor locations on an intermittent basis

- We are looking to fill two roles

- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
