BC Hydro’s mission is to safely provide our customers with reliable, affordable, clean electricity to provide a more

sustainable future for all British Columbians. A key component of BC Hydro’s strategy is our Energy Efficiency plan that

includes tools, technology, and programs for customers to encourage more energy efficient choices to support the energy

transition from fossil-fuels to clean and renewable energy sources. Access to energy efficiency tools and resources provides

our customers with opportunities to save energy and money, while reducing energy use (both overall and at peak times),

relieving pressure on our electricity grid, and reducing the need for new clean electricity resources. This is the best most

cost-efficient way to meet the growing demand for electricity, helping to keep electricity affordable for our customers.

The Measurement and Verification (M&V) department performs technically complex work based on industry standards such

as the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP®). This function plays a critical role in

ensuring accountability for customer projects receiving BC Hydro program funding and maintaining stakeholder confidence

in reported Energy Efficiency plan results. Extensive data collection supports our M&V work, including field metering data,

customer metering data, production and operating data, and BC Hydro monthly and interval electricity consumption data.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Manager of Measurement & Verification, the Field Metering Engineering Team Lead oversees all field

metering activities supporting the M&V department. This includes directing and supervising a team of MoveUP Technology

Solutions Specialists who install, maintain and remove temporary metering and data collection devices at customer sites.

Key responsibilities include:

- Develop work plans, allocate field team resources, and monitor progress to meet project timelines and quality standards.

- Act as the primary technical contact for all field metering activities.

- Oversee purchasing, testing, and installation of field metering equipment for energy management projects at customer

facilities, including temporary power/energy meters, current loggers, lighting loggers, data loggers, temperature sensors and

mitigation strategies.

- Conduct regular safety briefings and Safe Work Observations with the field team to ensure adherence to BC Hydro’s

safety policies.

- Prepare and submit safety reports, incident investigations, and corrective action plans as required.

- Collaborate with M&V Analysts, Engineers, Product Managers, Key Account Managers, and customer representatives to

align metering activities with project objectives.

- Communicate technical findings and recommendations to internal teams and external partners.

- Identify opportunities to improve field metering processes, tools, and technologies.

- Support training initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team.
