Overview
Engineering and Planning, Regional Engineering department needs an Engineering Supervisor to join its management team. Responsibilities Core Responsibilities
- Supervise the design of the primary and secondary distribution systems, and oversee long-range planning and design groups.
- Supervising individuals who assist the Control Center in evaluating system conditions, consisting but not limited to feeder outages/contingencies, customer interruptions, Open Mains and Banks Off.
- Oversee and direct the prioritization of work related to current system conditions, such as Open Mains and Banks Off.
- Plans, organizes, schedules and assigns work activities to personnel to meet operating needs and departmental goals.
- Enforces good housekeeping practices and ensures that subordinates work activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Responsible to review and approve rulings and feeder concurrences for New Business and Interference Projects.
- Oversee the technical studies for primary and secondary projects including PVL studies.
- Review and approve Engineering Rulings for projects, layouts for construction, before and after sketches (B&As) and advance feeder maps.
- Provide engineering assistance to other departments including Energy Services, Construction Management, operating groups and Distribution Engineering on internal and external customers concerns.
- Serve as Duty Engineer to provide engineering assistance to Control Room Operations.
- Participate and provide technical consultation any time ICS is enacted due to system contingencies or storm preparedness.
- Review and coordinate the Region's emergency response trouble analysis for heat and weather related events and provide mutual aid to other Regional Engineering groups.
- Provide technical support to Public Affairs and Energy Services to support community and customer concerns associated with the Region's Electrical Distribution system.
- Provide the technical review of Energy Services projects for compliance with the load relief, reliability and performance requirements of the Manhattan distribution system
- Responsible for reviewing System and customer outages of major electrical facilities.
- Review customer low voltage complaints and assign load flow studies in order to develop recommendations for system improvements.
- Forecast system electric loading for use in prioritization, upgrade and maintenance of work on the primary and secondary electric distribution systems.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical, Electric) and a minimum of 2 years work experience - to include 1yr of engineering work experience

- Must have an understanding of the Electric distribution system and be able to interpret and apply Engineering Orders, layouts, M&S, and C&DO plates Required
- Engineering experience including distribution design, computerized layout design,
- company mapping systems, Work Management System, budget preparation, PVL load
- flow analysis Preferred
- Knowledge of Electric Operations, which includes equipment, cable and splicing, associated with underground and/or overhead installation and associated construction standards Preferred
- Experience using EGIS and Designer XI applications for mapping and layout design Preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

- Possesses strong technical aptitude
- Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
- Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday

- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

- Must be able to walk extensively, as well as climb and bend
- Must be available to respond to emergency conditions when called, be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and willing to work a flexible schedule.
