Job Description
The Area Engineer will be responsible for supporting technical and operational aspects of all RUSAC Projects as dictated by project needs. The position will be based remotely and provide on-site support as required. The Area Engineer will report to the General Manager – Shafts and Technical Services.
Responsibilities
- Support project technical and operations teams with scope execution, including the planning and execution of critical activities.
- Regular integration and coordination with the Engineering and Technical Services teams on current and upcoming designs.
- Provide review and guidance on engineered designs, participation in design kickoff and review sessions.
- Project performance optimization support.
- Assistance with development of project delivery and technical standards, provide guidance to project teams on implementation and execution of the standards.
- Occasional travel to project sites for on-site support.
- If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
- Responsible to keep work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
- Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
- Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.

Education
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree in Mining, Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
Work Experience
Minimum 10 years in the underground mining industry preferred.
Knowledge Required
- Must be able to demonstrate proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of the mining industry underground environment
- Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work).
- Knowledge and understanding of mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining.
- Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
