Brazos Electric Power Cooperative is seeking a Transmission System Planning Engineer to play a critical role in ensuring the reliable planning, operation, and long-term strength of our transmission system. - Perform steady-state and dynamic transmission system studies using PSSE and/or PowerWorld with ERCOT-approved models.
- Analyze simulated and real-world system performance to identify current and future reliability needs.
- Conduct operational, contingency, generation interconnection, and large-load impact studies.
- Develop technically sound recommendations to address system constraints and future growth.
- Prepare annual near-term and long-term transmission planning assessments in compliance with NERC Reliability Standards, ERCOT protocols, and Brazos Planning Procedures.
- Support regulatory and planning filings, including the FERC Form 715.
- Develop and maintain a Five-Year Construction Work Plan, including system improvements and member extension projects.
- Develop a comprehensive five-year transmission budget based on system study results.
- Prepare a five-year member extension budget using input from Brazos’ member cooperatives.
- Prepare and submit transmission model updates in accordance with ERCOT protocols.
- Participate in ERCOT committees, working groups, and task forces related to transmission planning and system operations.
