LCRA is looking for a Senior Substation Engineer to join our team. As part of our Substation Engineering Group, your expertise will contribute to the design and analysis of the transmission system in an organization that strives to enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve. We need someone with knowledge of high voltage electrical substation design principles that can provide guidance for engineers, construction crews, and management. A strong candidate will be able to review and approve vendor drawings to keep projects in motion. The ideal teammate should be able to produce specifications for major equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
- Support high voltage substation relay and control drawing packages.
- Scope substation projects and support the procurement of major equipment.
- Prepare, review, and approve engineering construction packages.
- Evaluate and revise substation engineering procedures, design tools, and provide recommendations.
- Interface with equipment manufacturers, structural, system protection, construction personnel, consultants, vendors, and management regarding substation equipment, reliability, and research.
- Serve as a department representative on task forces and lead cross-functional teams,
- Preform as a subject matter expert and represent LCRA on external committees.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas plus eight or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job, including providing technical leadership in engineering.
- Driver's license
- Experience in designing high voltage substations (69kV - 765kV).
- Knowledge about substation equipment and test procedures.
- Provide feedback to review and approve vendor drawings
- Ability to create technical specifications for substation equipment & review vendor drawings.
