Location: KAMO Power Headquarters – Vinita, Oklahoma
KAMO Power is seeking a detail-oriented Engineer II - Relay to support our protection and controls design operations at our headquarters in Vinita, Oklahoma. This role plays a key part in the development of substation systems and ensures compliance and efficiency across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:• Design, develop, apply, and maintain protective relay schemes for transmission and distribution systems
- Perform relay settings calculations, coordination studies, and fault analysis
- Prepare and review relay settings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Support commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment
- Analyze system disturbances and outages; recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and field personnel on relay-related projects
- Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and applicable industry standards
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and technicians
- Assist with system planning, upgrades, and protection & control capital projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in protective relaying or power system engineering
- Working knowledge of:
– Protective relays and relay coordination principles
– Fault analysis and power system protection methods
– SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, or similar relay platforms
– One-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one preferred
- Experience with transmission and distribution systems, SCADA, and NERC compliance preferred
