Overview
This position is within the LG&E and KU Generation Fleet Performance Engineering department. Position responsibilities include performance engineering support for power generation plants. Engineer will support reporting processes for performance and reliability, use engineering skill to evaluate plant performance issues, and lead analytics initiatives.
The position will be filled according to qualification and experience of the selected candidate: Engineer I, II, III or Principal.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.
- Gathers, correlates, and analyses specific data using established procedures. Prepares data for and executes monthly Generation KPI reporting process
- Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests, and analysis.
- Performs a variety of routine tasks to become familiar with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company.
- Supports operating and maintenance functions with problem identification, engineering analysis, and problem resolution activities.
- Prepares and presents reports giving conclusions of job related engineering activities.
- Directs and/or reviews the development of management analyses and business impact studies associated with departmental business and technical initiatives. Advises departmental management on highly specialized subjects.
- Assists Engineer II, Engineer III, Principal and Consulting Engineers with large and/or complex projects, as required.
- Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
- Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
- Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
- Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Occasionally directs the activities of coops, supervisors, and others as they perform various activities. Supervises/coordinates activities and personnel in support of department analytics tools and processes.
- Performs other duties as directed by management.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
ABET Accredited Bachelor degree in Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to analyze and solve engineering problems from a business perspective.
Familiarity with power generation principles and GADS event reporting process
