CPS Energy is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Energy Market Policy Manager to serve as a subject matter expert on energy markets and the financial operations of the ERCOT market. This strategic role plays a key part in shaping our market policy and advocating for CPS Energy’s interest in the ERCOT stakeholder process.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working across business units to develop and guide CPS Energy’s positions on energy market design, regulatory proposals, and legislative initiatives. You’ll be part of a team that monitors emerging issues, engage in stakeholder meetings, develop policy recommendations, and protect CPS Energy’s market position through thoughtful analysis and representation.
Proven ability to build consensus and influence outcomes in complex stakeholder environments.
General understanding of ERCOT stakeholder and PUCT processes, knowledge of ERCOT Protocols, PUCT substantive rules, and PURA.
Strong knowledge of electricity rate design concepts and best concepts, including the ERCOT settlement and credit process.
Experience conducting analyses and developing and implementing recommendations/action plans based on those analyses.
Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communications skills for interaction within the section, across departmental lines to all levels of personnel, and vertically with management.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business or related field from an accredited college or university.
Work is performed indoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings in San Antonio and Austin, training sessions or other business related events.
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Operation of a motor vehicle in order to attend business related events.
