The position will work out of the Port Arthur field office located at 6300 W. Port Arthur Road, Port Arthur, TX. Candidates must live within 45 minutes from the field office. Work schedule is Monday - Friday; will work weekends and holidays as part of an on-call schedule rotation.
The Electro-Mechanical Technician is primarily responsible for maintaining, repairing, testing, adjusting, and assisting in the installation and removal of all electrical, mechanical, communication, control, and measurement equipment at assigned locations; performing a variety of operations, maintenance, and construction tasks to maintain safe operations of the pipeline and its related facilities; and ensuring the facility is operated and maintained in compliance with all Company and applicable regulatory standards and practices.
The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
1. Complies with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements and follows safety philosophy and procedures developed by the Company including: applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, and accepted safe work practices, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems, and the reporting of workplace hazards and injury or illness arising from workplace activities; observes the workplace to identify conditions or behaviors that should be corrected and takes appropriate action.
2. Tests and inspects assigned equipment by monitoring performance and operating specialized mechanical and electronic testing equipment.
3. Maintains assigned mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment by making adjustments and repairs as needed.
4. Compiles records and analyzes operating data on equipment.
5. Maintains equipment spare parts inventory and operates and maintains technicians’ tools equipment, and assigned vehicle.
6. Recommends equipment design changes, gives technical guidance, and suggests procedures for proper and efficient use of equipment.
7. Contacts and confers with factory technical representatives.
9. Works with third party contractor on R/W encroachments.
10. Acts as company inspector on construction and maintenance project performed by outside contractors.
11. Assists with on-the-job training of new technicians.
12. Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
13. Performs maintenance associated with upkeep, cleanliness, and appearance of pipeline right-of-way, terminal, and station facilities.
Ability to use various tools in the performance of of the above duties to include but not limited to digital and analog multimeters, dead weight tester, calibrated gauges, safety equipment, electrical power tools, electric shop crane and hoist, frequency counter, oscilloscope, line finder, probe bar, pipe threading equipment (electric and manual), ladders, and safety harness.
