Hourly Starting Salary Range: $28.46 to $35.86 (DOQ)
Direct Supervisor: Assistant Maintenance Mgr. - Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls
Normal Work Hours: Day Shift 7:00am to 3:30pm, M-F, with some overtime required.
Performs necessary duties to maintain electrical systems and components for industrial water and wastewater treatment plants, meter vaults, lift stations, pump stations, storage tanks, and related facilities, ensuring that all work complies with applicable safety and electrical codes and regulations.
- Assist in maintaining electrical systems and components for industrial water and wastewater treatment plants, meter vaults, lift stations, pump stations, storage tanks, and related facilities. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using visual inspection and appropriate testing equipment, including taking voltage and amperage readings on live circuits. Duties include the installation, repair, modification, and maintenance of medium-voltage electrical systems, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, transformers, breaker panels, disconnects, and related equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all electrical standards and requirements. Organize and perform preventive maintenance schedules on electrical systems as needed to ensure consistent and reliable operations. Report and track all maintenance activities in the District’s CMMS program.
- Performs general facility and building electrical maintenance, including housekeeping, repair and maintenance of lighting systems, cathodic protection data collection and inspections, battery backup, security systems, and HVAC systems.
- Assists in the construction and retrofit of electrical systems as part of, or in conjunction with, new construction or modifications to existing buildings/facilities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience with moderate mechanical and electrical knowledge in residential, commercial, and/or industrial settings is required.
- A valid State of Texas Apprentice Electrician License is required upon hire.
- Must obtain a State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License within three (3) years of the hire date.
- Must have the ability to read, interpret, analyze and understand electrical diagrams and blueprints of any electrical system, related technical manuals, schematics and construction plan documents.
- Must complete annual continuing education each license cycle.
- A valid Class ‘C’ Texas Driver’s License is required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Frequent walk, bend, squat, climb, and kneel.
