Position Summary:
The Electrical Technician Journeyman installs, services and repairs electrical systems; assists with sales and design of new systems.
Essential Functions:
•Accepts service calls and goes on location to assist residential and commercial customer.
•Prepares quotes and orders parts as needed.
•Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems.
•Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle to ensure work can be completed efficiently.
•Communicates with customers on work to be performed, time frames, delays.
•Trains other technicians on the job as needed.
•Maintains company vehicle in good working order and reports any issues in a timely manner.
•Participates in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.
•Identifies and reports to Electrical manager any potential opportunities for additional business.
•Assists and backs up technicians in other departments.
Certification, Licensing, and Testing:
Associates of Science Degree with a concentration in Electrical strongly preferred. Maine State licensed Journeyman electrician required. A valid driver's license is required. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Performs other work-related duties:
•At least three years of Electrical experience is preferred.
•Ability to read schematics.
•Ability to think creatively, deduct and reason; an abstract and mental imagery thought process.
•Customer service skills: ability to deal courteously and effectively with members of the public.
•Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate work, calls, and other tasks.
•Ability to work efficiently with little to no supervision.
•Prepares quotes and orders parts as needed.
•Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle to ensure work can be completed efficiently.
This position regularly interacts with customers, other employees (dispatchers, other technicians, drivers, and office personnel. and equipment and parts supply vendors.
Safety:
Safety considerations relate to safe operation of the service vehicle, wearing appropriate personal protective safety equipment, proper lifting of heavy parts or equipment, and general observation of the surroundings where work is being done. Icy, slippery conditions are a primary concern during winter. Use of industry related equipment including all types of hand tools, testing equipment, power tools, along with appropriate gauges and meters.
The position requires frequent driving, standing, walking, and sitting. There is occasional to frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing. There is frequent use of the hands/arms to reach, feel, handle, lift or pull. There is frequent communication involving both talking and listening.
