About the role:

We are currently seeking an Electrical Shovel Inspector to join our maintenance team at our North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM). NARM is the world’s largest surface coal mine and is located in Wright, Wyoming. The mine produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves.

As part of Campbell County, Wright is a safe, tight-knit community with outstanding schools, and various recreational opportunities.

Job Summary

These positions are hourly technician positions whose primary functions are to apply electrical and electronic theory and related applications knowledge to design, build, install, repair, maintain, calibrate, and modify electrical components, circuitry, programming, and control systems. Provide expert level electrical troubleshooting and control systems support to mine production and maintenance operations for shovels.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•

Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values

Must be an A technician level / MSHA certified electrician

•

5 years experience with shovel electrical maintenance and troubleshooting

•

Demonstrate proficient knowledge and advanced skills required for installation and methodical troubleshooting techniques on shovel equipment

•

Demonstrate the ability to perform systematic maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting procedures on critical electrical equipment; drives and motor pit – shovels

•

Maintain and secure PLC programs. Develop processes and standards for making program changes. Identify and implement methods to protect programs from unauthorized or unintended changes

•

Demonstrate advanced proficiency using sophisticated testing equipment to troubleshoot and make electrical repairs (e.g., the DATAQ)

•

Proficient experience with Centurion and/or Avtron drive systems

•

Proficient with all types of network protocols used on shovels. DevicNet, ControlNet, Ethernet, etc, and their configuration software and tools

•

Experience with different types of network equipment, fiber optics, switches, and wireless equipment and proper maintenance of them

•

Knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

•

Knowledge of high voltage equipment used in mining

•

Proficiency with all necessary testing equipment

•

Demonstrated good communication skills; must willing and able to instruct others on the technical aspects of the electrical systems

Physical Requirements

SURFACE ENVIRONMENT

•

Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift

•

Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles

•

Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders

•

Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA

•

Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination

•

Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 – 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift

•

Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area

•

Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)

Education

•

High School Degree or GED Equivalent required
