Provides coordination and project leadership to ensure assigned generation projects are successful from concept to close-out.
Responsible and accountable for the overall success of assigned projects in support of REC’s strategic imperatives. Develops, maintains, and tracks project specific requirements for design, vendor and contractor selection, schedule development, safety and environmental considerations, procurement of material, financial approvals, benefits, objectives, scope, deliverables, approach, issues, risks, assumptions and timetable.
- Ensures the project stays on schedule, on budget, and in accordance with applicable goals and metrics.
- Assures the project is placed in-service and closed in a timely manner.
- Provides leadership for assigned projects and the associated project team.
- Point of contact for assigned project communication to Senior Management, other REC work groups, outside vendors and contractors, and others.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and regulatory staff, outside contractors and vendors to support effective business processes.
- Collaborates with finance, safety and environmental staff, plant work groups, management, and outside contractors to determine the scope of work, resource and schedule constraints, customer needs, documentation, and construction oversight to ensure successful projects.
- Interacts with members in a manner that promotes and demonstrates teamwork and supports the REC culture. Seeks innovative change opportunities.
- Ensures adequate communication relating to the project is maintained throughout all phases of the project. This includes the generation, collection, dissemination, storage and ultimate disposition of all project information. This also includes reporting project status to all identified stakeholders at various levels of the organization, internal and external.
Knowledge typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business or a related field or the equivalent experience is required, plus five (5) years of experience with proven ability to manage large work activities and coordinate cross-discipline teams of professionals. It is preferred that at least two (2) years of that experience should include significant work or project activities, in which long-term planning, scheduling, strong communications, and regular tracking/updates were required.
- Knowledge of power plant project planning, design, construction, and testing best practices.
- Knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Skill in developing complex work activities into an integrated plan and managing and tracking that plan.
- Skill in developing effective communication plans for larger projects or work activities.
- Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address difference of opinions or facts and the use of the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.

Working conditions will be indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions of extreme cold or heat. Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the plant and facility grounds. Conditions in the plant and facility grounds may include extreme temperatures, noise levels, and heights. There will be overtime, and/or working weekends and infrequent overnight travel.
This position requires the ability to occasionally to frequently sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 20-50 lbs. frequently and bilateral carry up to 100 lbs. on rare occasion. The ability to climb, balance, work at heights and work with arms above your head occasionally up to frequently. Ability to occasionally up to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and squat, work on even and uneven surfaces and ability to work occasionally in confined space areas. Ability to frequently push, pull, carry, grasp and finger objects. Subject to frequent vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to fumes, dust or mist. Must wear protective equipment when required. Must be able to differentiate colors, have vision ability to encompass close-up and distant work, and the ability to speak and hear.
