As the Electrical Foreman for our solar installations, you will lead and manage our field electrical crews to deliver safe, high‑quality solar PV systems (residential & commercial) in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), AHJ rules, and company standards. You’ll be the on‑site technical lead, crew mentor, and safety champion—ensuring installs are done right, on time, and within budget.
- Supervise day‑to‑day performance of the electrical installation crew: schedules, assignments, productivity, quality, safety.
- Interpret electrical one‑line diagrams, blueprints, permit sets, and job specifications; verify string sizing, inverter layouts, conduit runs, grounding/bonding schemes.
- Ensure full compliance with NEC, local codes, utility interconnection rules (including load‑side taps, line‐side taps, MPUs, etc.).
- Perform or verify performance of: main service upgrades, sub‑panel installation, breakers load/derate calculations (especially for solar + battery systems such as Tesla Powerwall), conduit bending, wiring of PV modules, inverters, transformers, disconnects, etc.- Conduct daily site safety meetings, enforce PPE and safe work practices, identify hazards, submit incident or near‑miss reports.
- Coordinate logistics: labor planning (task/schedule), material staging, equipment tracking, site mobility.
- Maintain project documentation: timesheets, material usage logs, QA/QC checks, test reports, commissioning checklists.
- Liaise with project manager, engineer, subcontractors and client on‑site to resolve technical issues, change orders, and maintain client satisfaction.
- Mentor, train and develop field technicians and leads; promote positive team culture and continuous improvement.
- Perform final walk‑throughs, commissioning oversight and ensure the system meets performance and code requirements before demobilization.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; technical or electrical trade education is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ field experience in solar PV electrical installations (residential and/or commercial) with at least 2 years in a leadership/foreman role.
- Strong working knowledge of the NEC, solar interconnection standards, utility rules, electrical construction practices.
- Experience with conduit bending, main service equipment, breaker sizing, PV one‑lines, inverters (Enphase, Tesla Solar, SolarEdge, etc) is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to read blueprints/diagram sets, perform calculations, and execute work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation; occasional travel to sites may be required.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; NABCEP or equivalent solar credentials a plus.
- Will work outdoors on rooftops, ground‑mounts, shade structures, and varied terrain in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50‑75 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, bend, stoop, kneel, etc.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced field environment with early start times and occasional overtime.
