Electrical Estimator/Purchaser

Job Description

Scovan is a leading fabrication company located in Ponoka, Alberta where we supply industrial energy systems to established customers. We are currently recruiting an experienced Electrical Estimator/ purchaser to join our team.

Qualifications

- Experience 5+ years of electrical industrial estimation and/ or purchasing. Relevant education (University Degree, College Diploma, Trade Certificate) or equivalent experience (5+ years as an industrial electrical/instrumentation journeyman or supervisor)

- Experience estimating hours and material costs for E&I work Skills and Knowledge Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel. Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code Ability to read construction drawings (single lines, cable schedules, layouts, wiring diagrams, etc.)

- Hands-on experience installing electrical equipment, cables, raceways, lighting, heat trace, grounding, fiber optics and high voltage.

- Familiar with Oil/Gas projects relating to structural steel, module assembly, piping fabrication and installation, setting equipment, controls, substations, field wiring for power, instrumentation, and controls.

- Experience in estimating Instrumentation scopes of work Proficient with Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks or equivalent.

- Experience with material procurement, reviewing project contracts

- The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as a team, have excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities:

- Reports to E&I superintendent.

- Create project proposals including reviewing project scope of work, drawings, specs, standards, and other documents.

- Performing electrical takeoff of drawings and bills of material.

- Requesting quotes from various suppliers and thoroughly analyzing their proposals, in order to achieve project goals within the allotted budget and timeframe.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34.85-$41.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ponoka, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

- Industrial electrician: 5 years (preferred)
