Job Summary- Pierce Powerline Co. is seeking a highly organized Estimator- Commercial & Industrial Utility Projects candidate. This candidate is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial utility projects, with a focus on electric power plants, substations, transmission/distribution lines, and large-scale industrial facilities. This role requires strong project management skills to coordinate bid preparation, ensure technical accuracy, and deliver comprehensive proposals on time. The Estimator will work closely with engineering, procurement, operations, and clients to ensure estimates reflect real-world execution and industry best practice
- Review and interpret bid documents, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contracts for commercial and industrial utility projects.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead, considering project-specific risks and logistics.
- Apply expertise in electric power plants, substations, and industrial facility construction to ensure estimates are realistic and aligned with technical requirements.
- Coordinate estimating activities with internal project managers, engineers, procurement specialists, and field supervisors.
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client consultations to clarify project scope and gather cost-related data.
- Identify cost efficiencies, potential scope gaps, and constructability challenges early in the estimating process.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to clients and senior management within required deadlines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local Georgia market pricing, labor rates, permitting requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Track historical data from past projects to improve estimating accuracy.
- Assist in the transition from bid to execution, ensuring project teams understand estimate details, assumptions, and- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in the utility, power generation, or industrial construction industry.
- Proven experience in DATA center, electric power & battery plants, industrial facility construction, substations, and utility infrastructure projects.
- Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, Accubid, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, civil, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Primarily office-based in Georgia with occasional travel to project sites.
- Site visits may involve exposure to construction environments, varying weather conditions, and utility hazards.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and use computer-based estimating tools.
