Electrical Engineer – Senior HVDC Engineer

- Prepare technical specifications and tender documents for HVDC converters and FACTS devices

- Evaluate bids, perform design reviews and witness factory and onsite commissioning tests

- Conduct HVDC/FACTS studies and apply them to complex power systems

- Collaborate with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions

- Mentor junior engineers and represent BBA in technical committees and industry groups

- Support business development through proposal preparation and presentations.

Summary of certifications and job requirements

- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering

- P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration

- At least 15 years of industry experience, including 10+ years in HVDC/FACTS

- Expertise in HVDC/FACTS design, equipment and testing

- Experience in serving as an Owner’s Engineer for HVDC/FACTS projects

- Experience preparing technical documents and proposals

- Strong communication and critical thinking skills

- Ability to travel within Canada, the USA and internationally for short-term assignments

- Project management knowledge (scoping, planning, estimating)

- Experience with power system simulation tools (PSCAD, PSSE, RTDS)

- Familiarity with electrical protection and control systems

- Knowledge of IEEE, NEC or IEC standards
