Kindle Energy LLC (“Kindle”) specializes in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada and is a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group. Blackstone is a leading global alternative asset manager with more than $1 trillion of total assets under management. Currently, Kindle manages 9+ GWs of generation in Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana, and Texas with a 700 MW CCGT project under construction in Louisiana and a 160 MW GT project under construction in Colorado.
We are seeking an experienced individual for the position of “Project Electrical Engineer - EPC” to meet Kindle Energy’s high standards for site safety and environmental management.
The Project Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems supporting gas turbine power generation facilities. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical infrastructure throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in gas turbine systems and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:•Develop and enforce EHS policies, procedures, and programs tailored to construction activities.
•Engineering Leadership: Manage the electrical scope of work for gas turbine projects, including design review, equipment selection, and field implementation.
•System Integration: Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with gas turbines, generators, excitation systems, and auxiliary equipment.
•Commissioning Support: Support commissioning activities including loop checks, functional testing, and system energization.
•Technical Oversight: Review and approve electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and protection schemes to ensure compliance with project and industry standards.
•Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Interface with OEMs (e.g., GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi), EPC contractors, contrcators, and field teams to ensure timely and accurate execution.
•Compliance & Safety: Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety protocols.
•Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support for diagnosing and resolving electrical issues during construction and startup.
•Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical designs, test results, and as-built documentation.
•Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, I&C, and civil teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (required)
•Professional Engineer licensing is desirable.
•5+ years of experience in electrical engineering for gas turbine or combined cycle power plants
•Strong knowledge of medium and high-voltage systems, protection relays, switchgear, and excitation systems
•Familiarity with OEM gas turbine packages (GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.)
•Experience with electrical modeling and analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM)
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management platforms
•Excellent communication and leadership skills
•Ability to work independently in a dynamic, field-based environment
•Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain is preferred
