The EHS Specialist assists with the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of West Texas Gas’s safety programs and compliance initiatives. This entry-level role provides support for field and office safety activities, including training, inspections, audits, incident reporting, and regulatory compliance. The position is designed to promote a strong safety culture, ensure adherence to company policies, and comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct safety observations
- Support emergency response preparedness
- Maintain safety records
- Engage with employees to reinforce safe work practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments.
- Ability to travel to field locations as needed. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Additional training or coursework in safety, environmental health, or a related field preferred. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus but not required. Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Field-based position with extensive outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Regular travel throughout assigned area.
On-call availability for emergency response and after-hours work.
Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, bending.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
