About the Role:
The Solar Turbines facility is looking for a qualified person to serve as an experienced individual contributor on Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS) projects and assignments that are complex and that support and enhance facility performance and compliance. This position develops, coordinates, and/or supervises selected environmental compliance programs/projects and provides overall support with regard to environmental regulatory compliance issues throughout the facility. Independently performs most work assignments and may provide training and technical direction to other EHS Staff. Also responsible for cost tracking/management related to assigned programs/projects
What You will Do:
•Identifies common safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organization's operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
•Train employees on EHS policy compliance and measures understanding
•Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives
•Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions
•Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement
•Supports the timely and accurate data collection and analysis required for Corporate and Regulatory reporting
•Determines criteria for assessing vendors that may have potential environmental impact
•Understands various sustainability practices adopted by the organization
•Describes the basic concepts and objectives of sustainability to stakeholders
•Supports research and general administrative requirements for our sustainability efforts
•Collaborates across multiple departments to facilitate EHS program management
•Controls pollution and minimizes waste of materials, energy, and water within the organization
What You Have:
•Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an Environmental, Science, or similar program of study from an accredited university plus 4+ years of directly related environmental experience
•Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies
•Ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards
•Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
•Understanding and experience in Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations as they relate to an industrial manufacturing facility
•Knowledge of industrial wastewater pretreatment regulations and methods
•Proper solid waste and hazardous waste classification knowledge
•Thorough understanding of hazardous waste handling, transport, and spill response Familiarity with field sampling and analytical test methods for testing solid and liquid hazardous wastes to comply with Cal-EPA Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC), and Federal EPA
•General knowledge of air pollution control devices and regulations. Chemistry knowledge is helpful as well
•Understanding and experience in Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations as they relate to an industrial manufacturing facility
•Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an Environmental, Science, or similar program of study from an accredited university plus 4+ years of directly related environmental experience
Preferred:
•OSHA HAZWOPER Certification
•DOT Hazmat Certification
•Operation of oil/water separators, 3-stage clarifiers, Ultrafiltration (UF) systems, and Controlled Atmosphere Separation Technology (CAST) also known as vacuum distillation
•Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
•Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
•Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
•Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
•Overcoming Resistance to Change: Understanding and insight into the futility of refusing to accept the inevitable and ability to overcome resistance and adapt to a complex and changing environment
•Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations
•Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards

Summary Pay Range:
$108,834.00 - $163,252.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
