Job Summary
The Manager of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is responsible for overseeing and managing safety, health, and environmental programs at solar construction project sites. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while driving a culture of safety among employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders. The EHS Manager will conduct site inspections, enforce safety protocols, lead training initiatives, and collaborate with field teams to mitigate risks and promote best practices in solar construction safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Site Safety Compliance & Oversight
•Implement and enforce OSHA (1926 & 1910), EPA, NFPA, NEC, and state-specific safety regulations.
•Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections, ensuring compliance with corporate safety policies.
•Serve as the primary on-site safety liaison for workers, management, and regulatory agencies.
•Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce all site safety rules.
•Coordinate with subcontractors to verify compliance with company and project-specific safety plans.
• Hazard Identification & Risk Management
•Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Task Hazard Analyses (THAs) for high-risk work activities.
•Oversee fall protection, electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and excavation safety.
•Ensure proper heat stress prevention, wind safety, and emergency response readiness at the project site.
•Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to eliminate or reduce risks.
• Incident Investigation & Reporting
•Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, performing root cause analysis.
•Maintain OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, and regulatory documentation.
•Work closely with the corporate EHS team to analyze safety performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
•Ensure compliance with emergency action plans and evacuation procedures.
• Safety Training & Workforce Engagement
•Conduct new hire orientations and weekly toolbox talks on job-specific safety topics.
•Train workers on fall protection, equipment safety, fire prevention, and hazard communication.
•Lead Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs to engage employees in proactive safety practices.
•Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring all employees feel empowered to use Stop Work Authority (SWA).
• Environmental Compliance & Sustainability
•Ensure adherence to stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) and environmental management practices.
•Monitor dust suppression, erosion control, and hazardous materials handling at the site.
•Conduct environmental audits and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• Site Leadership & Collaboration
•Work closely with site superintendents, project managers, and field supervisors to integrate safety into construction planning.
•Participate in weekly safety meetings and support ongoing project risk assessments.
•Act as a mentor for site personnel, reinforcing the importance of safety as a core value.
Required
•OSHA 500, or NCCER (CSST, CSSO, and CSSS) safety certifications.
•5+ years of EHS experience in construction, solar energy, or heavy industry projects.
•Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC, and DOT regulations.
•Hands-on experience with fall protection, excavation safety, electrical safety, and heavy equipment operation.
•Ability to conduct site safety audits, training sessions, and risk assessments.
•Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of engaging with diverse teams on-site.
Preferred
•Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification.
•Experience in solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
•Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools.

•Competitive base salary ($90,000 - $130,000 based on experience and project size).
